Board
of Trustees
I.
Purpose
This
document will serve as a guideline for all Board of Trustee Policies written for
the First United Methodist of Burleson, Texas. All policies will have a purpose
paragraph that will generally outline the purpose of the document and / or the
reason for the need of said document.
II.
Authority
This
document is authorized by the Board of Trustees and any variations or exceptions
to this policy must first be approved by the Board of Trustees and when
appropriate, by the Church Council (sometimes known as the Administrative
board).
III.
Policy Life
Include
a statement here indicating if a particular policy has a specific time period to
exist or if the policy is expected to remain in force until updated, terminated
or replaced by action of the authorizing committee.

Miscellaneous Information
A.
Numbering System
All
policy Statements should have a date created or date last revised in the left
hand bottom corner of each page. In addition, each page should be numbered as
“page x of x pages in the bottom right hand corner of each page.
B.
Location
of Policies
All
Policies (unless an exception is specifically spelled out in a policy) are to be
kept in the Trustee Library. No policy is to be removed from the premises.
Copies of a given policy may be made with approval of the building
superintendent or a Trustee.
C.
Policy
Security / Variances
Any
Church / staff member may have access to any policy. Any requested changes to a
given policy are to be submitted to the committee, which authorized the Policy.
Any
member of the Trustees, any Pastor of the church and the building superintendent
can approve any requested one-time variance to a given policy.
