BOARD OF TRUSTEES

 FUMC BURLESON

The board of Trustees can be summed up by our Mission Statement. It reads,

"To insure that all people have a welcoming place to meet Christ"

To accomplish this goal, the Church Council has given broad powers to the Trustees. They have entrusted this board with the responsibility of maintaining and managing all Church Property and assets. We are made up of regular Church Members, of which 1/3 must be women. Our Board consists of eight voting members and the Trustee Chair.

The voting members elect their own chair, normally from the Board, as well as the Vice Chair and Secretary. They also have a Treasurer that records and informs the Board of Monthly Church Expenses, pertaining to the Trustee budget. The Trustee Budget is one of the largest that the Church has, because most of the bills, except for Payroll and Mortgage Expense come through us. This is part of the Management of the Church.

Every Year, three new members are added to the Board, and three old members retire from the Board. Each person serves a three year term.

If the Church has a full time Business Manager, which ours does, the Business Manager becomes an ex-officio Trustee with voice but no vote. The Pastor also is an ex-officio Trustee, and he has voice, but no vote. With a Church as large as ours, it is understandable that the Board cannot do everything it needs to do, when it needs doing. We have several "Honorary Trustees", or "ex-officio Trustees" if you like that term better, that help us keep up the Church.

All of the Policies that you see on this web, were designed to help everyone as well as the incoming Trustees what is expected. I think you will be pleasantly surprised to find that yes, someone does do the thing you were wondering about, and yes, there is an answer to the question that you had pertaining to something. Here, you can find it without having to ask someone, that may, or may not know.
