Policy on Media Ministries
I. Purpose
This document will serve as a guideline for the Media Ministries maintained by the Trustees for the First United Methodist Church of Burleson.
II. Authority
This document is authorized by the Board of Trustees and any variations or exceptions to this policy must be first approved by the Board of Trustees and when appropriate, the Church council (aka the Administrative Board).
III. Policy Life
This policy will remain in effect until such time as the Trustee’s may change or terminate it. Policy will be reviewed annually.
IV. All Media equipment will be controlled by the Trustees and authorized purchases from the Trustee Budget
V. Required Policies
This policy requires the Trustees to establish and maintain these guidelines concerning the following issues:
A. The Media Ministries Group will be operated as a Church Ministry. First, dedicated to bringing people closer to Christ, and as a Media Center, secondary. Religious activities of the church will take precedent over all other media request.
B. The Media Ministries will be overseen by the Trustees, and tagged as a TECH TEAM. The Trustees will appoint the LEAD person for the team.
The
Qualifications of the TECH TEAM LEADER should be:
1.
Knowledge
of computers and software.
2.
Knowledge
of sound producing equipment
3.
Knowledge
of video producing equipment
4.
Knowledge
of reproducing equipment
5. Repair and maintenance of all listed above.
The Responsibilities
of the TECH TEAM LEADER will be:
1.
Report
to the Board of Trustees
2.
Organize
and train all members of the TEAM
and qualify
them as Tech Team members.
3.
Schedule
team members for events and activities and distribute to each team member and
staff personnel
4.
Maintain
all Media equipment in good operating condition
5. Setup and Breakdown of media equipment needed for events
C. All approved personnel will be responsible for the correct operation of the equipment, and will follow the rules of the Tech Team Leader regarding scheduling and operation of the booth. Media booth security will be maintained at all times. Only authorized personnel will have keys to the center. The Tech Team Leader will have a list of authorized keys, and personnel available for the Trustees and the Church Ministry.
D. A charge will be levied (see Building Use Policy), except for the Church Ministry, for the use of, and the time of, the personnel operating the Media center.
E. Any coping of software, from Media computers, for personal use is prohibited. Violations of this will be dealt with by occurrence.
F. Any item placed on the Media Computers is deemed property
of the Church by attrition. If any illegal downloading or file transfer is done, the person responsible will be prosecuted to the full extent of the Law.
G Items, and Equipment requested for “personal” use will be approved by the Tech Team Leader, or Board of Trustees, as required.
H. It is understood that the Lead Tech Person can decline any equipment or items donated for or to the Media Ministry. Any equipment under this jurisdiction with a dollar value of $100.00 (one hundred dollars) or more, should be listed and submitted to the Trustee in charge of Inventory for insurance coverage.
Any conflict regarding the above will be resolved through the Tech Leader, also known as the Communications Director, and or the Trustees.
