ENERGY MANAGEMENT

A/C Settings Policy:

 

          1. PURPOSE: In order to provide a comfortable environment for worship, education and work, the Trustees have established an energy management policy.  The intent is to maintain a comfortable environment and at the same time control the cost associated with the heating and cooling of the premises.

 

          II. AUTHORITY: This document is authorized by the Board of Trustees and any variations or exceptions to this policy must first be approved by the Board of Trustees.

 

          III. POLICY LIFE: This policy will remain in effect until updated / replaced at the direction of the Trustees.

 

          IV. POLICY STATEMENT: Programmable thermostats have been installed throughout the Church facility and each thermostat has been programmed based on the specific requirements of the space to be air-conditioned / heated.  Each thermostat has been “locked” to prevent changing the specs for that thermostat.

 

                 The following people will have authority to temporarily override the temperature settings of a given thermostat:

                            

                             Senior Pastor                          Associate Pastor

                             Chairman of Trustees            Church Treasurer

                             Office Administrator

 

                 Anyone scheduling use of a room for a non-regular event must notify the Church office (and the Office Administrator) and specify the requested temperature setting and the start time and duration of the scheduled event.

 

 

GAS FIRED A/C UNITS:

         

Once a thermostat has been programmed per Trustee instructions, the setting can be temporarily overridden per the following procedure:

 

    The following instructions have been removed from this document by the Trustee Chair. Personnel that have the need to know these instructions will be informed.

 

               A. If a small lock appears in the lower left of the display

                  Screen, you can unlock the thermostat by pressing the

                  “+” and “-“ keys simultaneously for four (4) seconds

                  (you will see the lock disappear.

 

               B. Press the HOLD TEMPERATURE key and the “up”

                   button or the “down” button simultaneously to go into

                    “override mode”.  The word “override” will appear on

                   the display screen.

 

              C. NOTE: Override is automatically set to run for two

                   hours.  You can increase or decrease the override time

                   period in increments of one hour (max of five (5)

                   hours) by pressing the “+” or “-“ buttons on the time

                   button.

 

              D. Press the up or the down button to set the desired

                   temperature setting.  Press the mode key to select

                   either heat or cooling (see description on display

                   screen).

 

              E. To cancel the changes and start over, press the erase

                   Button and go back to Step A.

 

              F. To change the status (see display screen) from

                   Unoccupied to occupied, press and hold the up and

                     down keys simultaneously for 2 seconds.

 

               G. Press the “+” and “-“ buttons simultaneously for four

                   (4) seconds to re-lock the thermostat.

 

 

HEAT PUMP A/C UNITS

 

Any variations from this policy should receive permission from the Trustees.  After completion of the meeting / event with a variation, the thermostat should be put back in compliance with this policy.

 

 

LIGHTING

 

Every effort should be made to turn off lights when a meeting is finished.  A designated building superintendent will make a tour of the building at close of the business day to ensure that all thermostats are at the proper setting and that all lights are turned off (except for security reasons)
